Black Swan...

http://www.4shared.com/document/0MpfLuZf/The_Black_Swan.htm Written by well known Hedge Fund trader, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the book helps in understanding the actual meaning of term "RISK" used by Porfolio Managers, in their astrological arguments, to convince their clients of Black Swan. This would definitely glue you... :), And if you still left with time for stupid technical reading this might be of some help: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff657751(v=VS.85).aspx

Learning C++ again... good or bad only god knows.

Life is never what you ask for, but I can't believe my dearest language has returned to me. Not that I asked for it, but I never wished to leave it either. It just got lost in those wonderful training days. Now that I am learning C++ again, the first programing language of my life, the first and the only one I have fallen in love with, I am stuck in a delima. (PS: Technically BASIC was the first one but I never learnt it as programing language) I have been assigned the task of setting up CPP unit test environment for my team. Obviously no one else was interested in taking this up, and I being an easy soft target had to raise the bar. I started on Monday in in just a week I am ready with 23 successful test cases and with 2 design flaws report. (well the design flaws are actually UT failure but server guys will always be server guys, they turned the failure to a design flaw and thus I had to restructure my UT to make it succeed :) ) Now, my delima is should I stick with my spiri

Getting trained again.... this time its ION

Some really funny things I hvae learnt in ION's training sessions: 1. Clearing is part of Middle Office. 2. Price of bond never changes once decided. 3. We used to talk in terms of buying 100 IBM or 100 Sape, here they always talk in terms of 1 trillion xyz (Neither of us had a realistic example :) ) 4. HAHAHa, read this, Future can trade on OTC. These guys are unaware of term Forwards. 5. Thre facilitator had prepared a seperate single slide PPT for his introduction (he can't even introduce himself without a PPT :) ) 6. STP is used to process trades comming from two diferent streams.  WTF. 7. LIBOR is pronounced as 'Leebor' instead of 'Laibor'. 8. Agency bonds implicitly means they are Goverenment Bonds. 9. The facilitator didn't knew the difference b/w Connection Oriented and Connection Less protocols. Mind you the facilitator says (orshows in PPT) that he has an experiance of 8yrs (2 yrs of RetailBanking rest if Financial Industry

My way of saying good bye

This is my sapient Adieu mail: (i got recognition for Creativity for this mail :) ) Hi Friends, It was a late winter day (or was it an early spring) when I realized Agilent on clearing Sapient's campus interview (almost 50 months back). I did Dun & Bradstreet to join Sapient ('Persistent' with a higher package being the other choice). The only aim in mind was AMX . So very predictably I started with Anritsu  approach and wanted to ensure doing an AT&T every day!! While every day I wanted to start as FEDEX , it was also important for me to be a TOSHIBA and make it ONGC . Then starting from SapeStart till our training I felt my team was a DISNEYLAND ; The  Sa pe S tart taught 3M ideas, training was no Philips but  provided Panasonic  (with lots of  CS and Tennis and a bit of TRM , .net ). Later on, I was absorbed  in Citadel, one of the best fort of Rock Stars (as quoted by Mr. Jetly in his welcome e-mail), as a developer cum support cu

Just to make sure i am still blogging

I am feeling very frustrated and tired today. I am just wondering how did i managed this journey till now, was i really up for it? if yes then where my strength has gone now that i am willing to give up. Right now I am loving to mum the song from 3 idiots "give me some sunshine..." I have been striving to continue with my so called love with tech. I have been trying to write something that I believe is my discovery :P "The Virtual Extension Methods". But only god know when i would be able to blog on that. Its been three times that I have tried to scan my code but every time someone else was playing with the scanner just to make sure I can't scan anything :(. But don't worry, soon i would regain my strength and the black magic of Virtual Extension would be open sourced. Till then astla vista baby. Ankush Bansal

One of my Poem | The day I spoke

The Day I Spoke..... It was dark all around, when I saw, no one was there I found. This was the day I woke.. The first day I spoke. The day before... I was flying in the sky, so very high... No time to look behind , Job was to keep flying. This is success I thought.. Getting everything wanted, Thank u God. So very nice the feeling I felt.. It was t he day before I melt. There was no end it seemed.. even the sun wasn't getting dim.. so fortunate was I flying high so vey high.. then a thought stuck my mind... let me be generous and a bit kind, why not look around and see... who all are with me, and who all have left behind. And to my shock , alone was I.. flying lonely in my sky, so high so very high.. with no care in my heart, for those who had work hard. for those who were with me, in that journey. when I got alone I never Realized. The journey become virtual, virtual become my life. Relatives, friends, nation, world I had forgotten these words. suddenly

Beware of installing Silverlight Dev tools

My love with tech continues, though it keep shifting its level. But then it never went down to be called as non existent. There is a new found love wave flowing through my body these days, for Silverlight obviously (the title of the post should have indicated this :) ). To be able to create Silverlight project the following should be installed on your machine: Microsoft® Silverlight™ 2 Tools for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=c22d6a7b-546f-4407-8ef6-d60c8ee221ed&displaylang=en So lets come to the topic quickly, "Beware of installing Silverlight Dev tools". This post is to make my sibling developers aware of below error that comes after installing the above Silverlight Tools. --------------------------- Microsoft Visual Studio --------------------------- Package Load Failure Package 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Xaml' has failed to load properly ( GUID = {E58C2A8B-BCC4-4559-AD59-D62EB6D58A22} ).
